Alpers Ranch Sold

A co-worker received a letter from Tim Alpers stating the Ranch has been sold to the same people who bought the Arcularius Ranch. Tim will move his Alpers trout hatchery and will continue to stock the Sierras with his famous trout. It’s my understanding it didn’t make financial sense to bring his ranch cabins to present day building codes and he had a willing buyer. It’s too bad because I always had a fun time fishing his pond

Found via those industrious types at MidCurrent, the San Diego Union is reporting that Alpers Owens River Ranch is being sold, and that fly fishers will no longer have access to this pay fishery once the sale is final.

Tim Alpers' Owens River Ranch, one of the more famous trout-fishing ranches in the West, will close to fishing if the proposed sale of the property is finalized.
